Meet the Pastor

RCUMC  welcomes

Nathan Colwell

Welcome!

My name is Nathan Colwell, Pastor of Rockingham Court United Methodist Church.  Before being appointed here in the beautiful Roanoke Valley, I served as a Licensed Local Pastor in Allegany County for three years.  Prior to that, I had the opportunity to serve as a Lay Supply Pastor for two years in Amherst County.

Moving to Roanoke was a bit of a homecoming for me as much of my family originates from Bedford County and I spent most of my youth living in Roanoke County and Salem City.

I am blessed to be husband to my wife, Shana and father to our three children, Nicholas (Nick), Ezekiel (Zeke), and Eliana (Ellie).  I enjoy playing music, spending time with my family, and am an avid motorcyclist.

I started my professional life as an automotive technician immediately following graduation from Salem High School.  I began working in a garage as I attended the Automotive Analysis and Repair program at Danville Community College.  I worked at several garages and dealerships over a fourteen-year period before pursuing my call to ministry.  During the last few years as an auto mechanic, God’s grace created what I would call a “divine discomfort” in my life.  As I began to pray and search through this disruption of my life and soul I began to slowly understand God’s will for me to be a member of the clergy, proclaiming the “Good news” and building up the body of Christ as a Church leader.

It has been a wonderfully challenging and blessed life of redirection, education, ministry, and proclaiming the Gospel of Christ in many unexpected ways.  I am very grateful to God for leading me to Rockingham Court UMC and look forward to many years of being in ministry with this church family as we strive to reflect the glory of God to the world around us!

We welcome everyone to join us as we gather to Worship God, Grow in Christ’s likeness, and Serve the world around us through the power of God’s Holy Spirit.

All to God’s Glory!

~Pastor Nathan
